A Message from our Minister - Rev Gill

Bowed but unbroken
For weeks now, I have been blessed to witness a beautiful display
in my garden, a cascading spectacle of radiant yellow blossoms
spilling over the lawn from my flower border.
My Easter broom (Cytisus scoparius) has been a dazzling vision
of golden flowers, outshining every other plant in brilliance.
But last night the storms hit, the rains fell in heavy droplets, and the thunder and lightning flashed through my patio windows. This morning, I found the once-glorious mass of blooms bowed, its vibrant head bent low and dispirited under the weight of the storm's fury.
Yet despite the raging storm, the glory of my beautiful Easter Broom, although temporarily bowed, will pick up again, glorious as ever.
Jesus said, ‘It is finished” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Jn 19:30
Jesus bowed his head.
It was finished.
But it was not the end!
Like the temporary bowing of nature’s beauty in a storm, Jesus was bowed, but unbroken. In that moment, the storm of my sin, your sin, and the sins of the world were laid on Him. Yet after the storm of profound agony, he was raised to life triumphant, within three days. Hallelujah! What a Mighty God we serve!
Storms, destruction and adversity hit, and we may sometimes be bowed under the strain, but in Jesus we will always bounce back, eternally his.
